That's not true as a statement of fact. As an opinion, its silly.

Once again, I disagree. There are no veteran quarterbacks like him at all in this time. Especially since John Elway retired. Not silly at all.

To be honest, yes it does

Really? So every great player that is doomed to play with a weak team is less great? Fran Tarkington is a loser because he never won it all? Was Bob Greise a better quarterback than Fouts, or did he just play on a team full of all-pros? What would Marino have done behind the Cowboys' all pro offensive lines that protected Aikman?

As far as Favre being in the top 15, that is saying a lot. Matter of fact it puts him in the same league as the other great QB's of earlier generations.

Now, you're dancing around. Originally, it was Unitas, Staubach, and Starr. If I recall correctly, the last season any of them played football was 1979. As far as NOW, that's a different issue and doesn't speak to whether Farve compares to the three mentioned. Please keep your eye on the ball.

I didn't call FT a loser; I said he didn't rank up there with the great QBs. Only a died in the wool, and blind, Viking fan would disagree.

I noticed you didn't respond to my Danny White reference. If championship don't mean anything, then White is a top 10 QB of all time. Look at all of his stats relative to percentages. Except for one tackle by a 49er defender on Drew Pearson, Danny White, rather than Joe Montana, could be talked about among the greats.

No serious NFL fan would rank him that high.

Two Super Bowl victories in past three years. A 12-2 record so far this season. The highest winning percentage of any active quarterback (over 16 games).

But what the h-ll was that he threw last Monday Night?!? Definately the dumbest play of the year by far. But they did recover nice against the Jets yesterday. Maybe that loss in Miami was the best thing that could have happened to the Patriots.

No I'm not. I saying that to demonstrate that he is unique and is comparable to the great quarterbacks I mentioned.

I didn't call FT a loser; I said he didn't rank up there with the great QBs

Wow, I am not a Vike fan, being a huge Bear fan, but I don't think that I would be so quick to say that. FT was a great great talent. I was able to see many of his games as he played in the Bears' division. I am not sure how he compares, but I wouldn't say that he didn't rank with the great QB's. He did some incredible things to get the Vikes to succeed.

I noticed you didn't respond to my Danny White reference

I didn't respond to the Danny White reference, because it seemed unnecessary at that time, but since you insist, I am not considering him as he did not seem to be the extraordinary talent that these other quarterbacks were. Could White have survived behind the porous Packer line and take the pounding that Farve did? He put up those numbers because he had the people to If you inserted Farve behind his line and gave him Pearson to throw to, what might have been?

I think you're overstating the lack of quality of the Packers' line. GB has been a playoff team most years since Farve has been there, and they didn't get there by having OLinemen that couldn't block at all. If you look at the post 1980 Cowboys' line, you will see a LOT of older players, and young players who weren't very good. The Cowboys essentially did not have a good draft between Tony Dorsett and Troy Aikman. That's 13 years or so.

My point is that if you don't think Danny White gets to the level of a Marino or Fouts, then there's NO WAY you can take Farve up to the level of a Unitas or Staubach. No way under the sun. At some point you have to consider championships for QBs. Maybe not for kickers, or linebackers, but for sure for QBs.

Well, to completely beat a dead horse..

The only reason that the Pack made it to the playoffs at all was because of Favre. The reason why the team generally could get no farther is that the better teams could exploit the real weaknesses of the Packers at the next level. That is sort of how it was with Buffalo and Jim Kelly or many of the Broncos teams and John Elway. I was at the Broncos/Giants Superbowl and watched the Broncos get blown out in Pasadena. Great quarterback- no help.

My point is that Danny White couldn't do what Favre, Kelly, or Elway did. They were the only reason at all their teams performed at any level for the number of years they did. Put White on those weaker teams and they don't make the playoffs at all.

Just my 2 cents.
