Got you beat! Chicago, January '67 - twenty-four inches in twelve hours.

Actually, we beat you. When we moved to southeast Missouri in 1976, everyone told us that this area got very little snow and it proved true...until February 24, 1979. That night, it silently snowed 24 inches in six hours beginning after midnight. The first motor I heard was the national guard trucks finally reving up three days later in the armory across from our neighborhood. I had forgotten about that, really. I will have to check the net for recollections and such.
