Mr. Prairie was explaining to me that the Richter scale is logarithmic based so a move from 8.9 to 9.0 is much more significant than 4.9 to 5.0 for instance.

I had heard that at one point some years ago but had forgotten. Thanks for that reminder. Mr. Prairie sounds very smart :-)

Well Mr. Prairie would know what a logarithm is. I only know it has something to do with math. And that's where I stop knowing about it :^D

Peach, I don't recall in all my 59 years ever hearing of an earthquake hitting 9.0. My husband said there was one in Alaska in 1965 but I don't remember hearing about it. I was in Nursing school then and probably too busy studying and on time off, well we would be drinking LOL. Thank God I grew up!
