This all happened in the mid-nineties, TWA flight 800 to Paris blew up about ten minutes after take off over the Atlantic. There were a lot of eyewitnesses (more than a hundred apparently) in boats and on the shore that swear they saw the trail of a missile go up from the water and hit the plane causing the explosion in any of the parts recovered.
A huge investigation was done, the plane was literally re-assembled in a hangar with the vast majority (over 95%) of pieces coming from the salvage of the plane. There was apparently no evidence of a missile, and no sign of a missile explosion, or a missile going through the plane to detonate it.
An impasse. I need to study this more without going onto the crazy tin foil hat threads about this.
Wow. Thanks. I was thinking you were talking about a plane that blew up/crashed shortly after 9/11 over Long Island. I only vaguely remember this mid-90s story. Invisible missiles once they make impact? Laser missiles?
Gotta go and meet the wife for dinner, but I live only miles from where the thing happened and know the photographer who took photo of what looks like a missle, and also know the ANG Pilot who saw and reported the thing looking like a missle- he knew what they looked like from his days in 'Nam. It was the Clinton watch and it was so obvious to those here but they continued to deny what over two hundred plus saw and with the CSI ability to back track today there is no room for varience!
They don't want folks to worrie about how many (Middle Eastern males) are running around with shoulder missle guns!
It is not good for air travel!:)
