One time ping to you folks who seem pretty savvy about Firefox.

ON the Options box, hit the fonts & colors button, then, at the bottom of the window, check the boxes for "always use my"

Back in the days when I used IE I had the same thing happen. I cleared the history and started over and it seemed to fix the problem. I use Netscape now but am considering Firefox.

My work installation has the problem; my home installation doesn't. Both are running Firefox 1.0. I was running the last beta version for several months and am just now learning the power of a tabbed browser. Firefox runs a lot better than Netscape and faster, I think, than Mozilla (its big brother, and near kin to Netscape).

Links changing colors. Hell, I can't even get it to use my internet connection. All the other browsers work (IE, Netscape, Opera, Voyager, Mozilla. Checked to make sure it wasn't looking for a proxy (it wasn't). Always says "The connection was refused when attemptimg to contact www.freerepublic.com". Anyone have any thoughts?

You don't have a firewall blocking it, do you?

No. I have Zone Alarm, but it is not running at the moment (and there is no entry for Firefox, so it would ask, anyway).

I'd pull up the task list and check anyway to see if you have vsmon.exe running - that's the ZA firewall service that sits in the background and does the actual firewalling. Other than that, I'm not sure what it might be. Have you tried removing and reinstalling it?

"always use my"I just tried that and as far as I can tell all it did was to make all links, including headlines for example, blue. When I hit "back" the original link is still blue. Thanks, though.

You can add an extension called LinkVisitor 1.0.20041021 I forgot to mention that you cannot have your Firefox History setting at 0 days. You must have History set for a minimum of 1 day.

There's nothing in Avant that makes it better than FF, and it crashed too often for me.

Problem solved by Eagle9. I would never have thought of the history setting.

Wrong, from my perspective. Buttons on bottom, movable; much more customizable; fast; works with everything (unlike FireFox).
When was the last time you used it? Are you sure y ou're not thinking of MyIE2?

Vsmon isn't running, but the remove and reinstall seemed to fix it. I don't think I had tried that before. It must not have written something correctly on the original install, or something else wrote over it. Thanks a million!
