The single biggest problem with art today is that it is created for other artists--the rest of us are considered too dumb to appreciate such "greatness". Irony has saturated all thinking about art--the only kind of sincerity allowed is of the anti-Bush/anti-white male variety.

Irony is the artist's calling card today, and anyone appreciating beauty or wanting to put across a sincere message other then Bush/white guy hatred is considered an old fogey.

I was an Art History major in college. By the end of my second year reading that drivel, I was totally turned off and disgusted with the study of Art. As a cure, I just kept going to the museum as much and as often as I could, to re orient myself to why I really was interested in the subject to begin with. Don't ever be put off by that drivel, the Art was here before it was and the Art will always be here, (real Art). Forget what the eggheads say, just go and enjoy the art, it belongs to YOU.
