Evenin' all!! [sip]

Roger on the binos. Looks like a good unit. Roger on the Leupold scope, too... that's what's on my M77 .270.

In Binos I'm partial to Fujinon (have a big pair mounted on a tripod), but they're kinda pricey, though not as big-league pricey as Zeiss or Swarovski. But my latest find is actually a pair by Minolta of all people. Really, really clean and sharp optics but the coolest part is the oversize glass in the eyepiece. Really a lot more comfortable to look through.

Howdy all!

The optics guy at Captains Nautical told me once that there's actually only about two companies left in Japan and maybe one in China that make optics, and they make just about everybody's binoculars. Dozens of brands but only a small number of actual plants.

I don't know who makes them in the U.S. anymore.

I think it all depends on the price range of the optics. Even the Leupold economy line is "outsourced".

I don't like the red chinese bit myself, but I see my buying their stuff (when nothing else is available) as helping a tiny bit of capitalism to someday undermine their commie masters. Buying stuff at WallyWorld harms us a lot less than an ex-president who gave away our nuclear secrets, and supercomputers, and aircraft tooling, to the chicoms in exchange for a few million (mabye even 100 million) in dirty money laundered through through the Rat party,

Minox 8x32BR compact, armored, and built like a little panzer, street price $550:
