About 4-5 hours. A bit closer time-wise than I am to ShootMoot.

Hmmm a kayak expedition is starting to sound like fun. There is probably a lot more interesting water down there than Iowa has to offer. The only trick with one man kayaking is figuring out how to get back to your car. My usual plan is to use my bike to make a biathlon out of it.

Hope you manage to get there, even if anime is banned.

Does Iowa have any exciting water at all? It seems a little flat to get rapids and canyons and stuff.

Despite the name there are no rapids in Cedar Rapids. I think there use to be back before they put in all the low-head dams.

I like 'my precious' because you've been near obsessed with finding it. I think you should paint "my precious", or the runes from the ring, on your door when you are done.

Did you see my photoshop?

That's rather what I thought.

I've never been kayaking. I've never done a lot of things, actually... hopefully will expand my repertoir a little in the next few years...

I had not either until I decided one friday I wanted one and went down and picked up a little 220buck plastic kayak. I have done a lot of canoing years ago but kayaking is more fun if there is just one of you.

here's the recipe tuh the baked garlic soup I made last night...

Baked Garlic Soup

2 cups fresh diced tomato (I used one 14.5 oz can of diced tomatos)
1 can garbanzo beans, undrained
4 or 5 summer squash (I used 2 large zucchinni)
2 large onions, sliced thin
½ green pepper, diced (I used one small can of mild diced green chilis)
1 ½ cups dry white wine
4-5 cloves fresh garlic minced
1 bay leaf
2 tsp salt
1 tsp basil
½ tsp paprika
1 ¼ cups grated monterey jack cheese
1 cup grated romano cheese
1 ¼ cups heavy cream or whipping cream (I used half n half)

Generously butter inside of three quart baking dish. Combine all ingredients, except cheese and cream in dish. Cover and bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees. Stir in cheeses and cream, lower heat to 325 and bake for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Do not allow it to boil.

This is supposed to be a vegetarian soup, but I added two cups cooked chopped roasted chicken we had leftover... man this was good..

You could put "PRCIOUS" on the license plate...

...or "ASHNAZG"...

it is, however, a liberal cesspool in the middle of a conservative paradise...

Provided 300wm and I get together in time, or other like arrangements (up to and including "I'm at the Shoney's in Lebanon, if anybody wants to meet me"):

Party of one
Camping on site, can use floor in the event of really inclement weather
M1903A3 (.30-06) and M1 (.30 Carbine); all Class V prepacked

You should know I plan to bring an assortment of DVDs, possibly including a fair use copy of the original pre-1997 Star Wars, just in case.

Howzat?
