The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

If there's not a disposer in that sink, using a plunger might help.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

Googled "kitchen sink clog" and found the plunger suggestion. It grossed out the Mrs. (yeah, it's been "there"). But it worked.

We have a disposal on the dishwasher, but not in the sinks. But I think it runs to the same drain (best I can tell).

And Hair, clogs wouldn't make it to the intersection. We're on a septic system.

(and yes, we had it pumped last spring)

Sink disposals on septic systems are just not a good idea, unfortunately. Or so I understand.

You know, I've said this before. I know my handyman limitations.

I can do the basics, including some basic wiring. But I don't ~do~ plumbing. I fixed a leaky toilet...once.

Plumber I talked to once said he found a dead mouse in a trap once. Said it looked like it had been in there for ~years~

That's what we've been told too. Although we've gotten some different opinions. We still scrape the stuff that goes into the dishwasher, the disposal there just gets the "extra" crud.

If you've had grease go down the drain recently to cause the clog, you should probably let the hot water run ahwile. This'll soften the stuff, then use several doses of dish soap, while still running the water, to emulsify anything left and flush it down.

Eventually we all turn into our parents. It is inevitable.

I am at peace with it.
