I mostly love Microsoft software, but Firefox is a lot better than IE.

Firefox is an IE killer unless they do something about it.

I just got done putting in adblock and tweak network settings extensions today. FF gets better the more I use it.

Firefox is a quite good browser, especially with the inclusion of tabular browsing, which allows me to read multiple web pages simultaneously. However, many of the features in Firefox does take getting used to, though.

Firefox is better than IE, but it does have its problems. For instance, it forces you to hit enter after you've pasted in a URL, which can be a pain. It also is not especially "mouse sensitive" in some situations. There was something else about it that was bugging me, but I can't come up with it at the moment. In any case, Firefox is not perfect. It has some evidence of clunky code about it.

Does anyone know if there's a way to manage cookies such that I can protect specific cookies in one file and delete the rest with one click?

Right now I have to delete one junk cookie at a time to keep those for sites I visit regularly. The only other option I see is "remove all," which I don't want to do.

Was a Netscape user for many years, moved to IE when Netscape stopped being supported effectively, then migrated to Firefox a couple of months ago. No pop-ups, no hassle, and Spybot "hits" during weekly maintenance are now down to 1 or 0. What a pleasure.

I have been using Firefox for several months at home (I have forbidden my wife and kids to use IE). I also use Thunderbird as a mail reader. I love the security.

The problem with tossing IE here at work is the fact that many of our insurance brokers (we are a small commercial and personal lines brokerage) are insistent on putting ActiveX scripts on their webpages, making it impossible to use Firefox.

I wrote a letter to progressive asking them why did they demand that we do the technical equivalent of leaving our front door open in order to use their products....., no response. Ditto from GMAC, Safeco, Farmers.

Anyhow, does anyone know of a workaround for acriveX scritps that I can incorporate into Firefox? I would love to ditch IE altogether.

Opera is the fastest and has the most options for better browsing. I am not sure how it compares with security, but I have used both IE, and Firefox, but the first time I used Opera, I was hooked.

I have no love for Microsoft, I never forgave them for killing off DOS.That said I still use their OSs because they came with the systems and if you like games there are really no good alternatives. But that doesn't stop me from running Firefox if nothing else it's more secure than IE.I don't think it's faster it actually takes longer to load on all my systems but tabbed browsing rocks. You might want to keep your options open by not making it your default browser because there are still some websites like Windows Update that won't work in Firefox. As far as pop-ups go when I use IE with Google Toolbar it does a fine job of blocking pop-ups.I have a hardware firewall built in to my router which helps so your mileage may vary.

I use Ad Muncher on Internet Explorer. I get no pop-up ads ever, standard banner ads are eliminated, and most other ads as well. It gives you an ad-free internet, resulting in much faster downloading of web pages.

I downloaded FF and like it a lot. No pop ups ever. I also have the Avant Browser which sits on IE but has a lot more bells and whistles. Lately I have been using it a lot and in some ways I prefer it over FF. Both are good browsers and each have pluses and minuses.

I run XP (severely stripped down) and like it well enough, once all the 'phone home' crap is turned off.

Unless one of my mortgage vendors requires IE, I don't touch it. It's like a sewerpipe attached to my hard drive, pumping all that malware crap directly into the system.

I've been using Mozilla for three years, but just this week switched to Firefox and T-bird. Very nice stuff.

Just to clarify:
Adobe Reader 6.0.0 causes problems with Firefox.

0*Surprise*0

Earlier today I upgraded to 6.0.3 with the plugin suggested by Condor51, up at #102. PDFs now load clean and fast.
