The Air Force's ABL (Airborne Laser) had a test flight only a few days ago. They will test fire the on board laser sometime next year I believe. The Tactical High Energy Laser the Army is developing is deployable, theoretically, but they are looking to miniturize the system so it can be carried on a truck. In tests, THEL has yet to miss even when presented with multiple targets. The media hasn't covered this probably because it doesn't further the notion that all this will never work.
