I tru;y hope she stays young and fresh and doesn't let the forces of evil in our entertainment industry seduce her into doing things that are not appropriate for her age. Wasn't Anna already "married" by the time she was 17 to that Russian Hockey player? Anna's path was more celebrity than sport. I hope this girl realizes the path to longevity is the other way around. Sounds like it.

Don't tell that to the guys here. They like 'em skanky with huge boob jobs.

Maria has a good head on her shoulders and I'm sure she'll be a great success in tennis and in business. Best of luck to her.

Maria is wise beyond her years............. she'll do the RIGHT thing!

She knows the essence of America and knows the certainty of family and the beauty of this country.

She will play the game well, and she will stand up for a solid life.

She may just be the smartest girl to play tennis since Chris Evert.

I am rooting for her continual decency and charm.

Thanks for that pic.

As a man of 57 years who has played competitive tennis, and enjoyed the great female artists as tennis players through........... Evonne Goolagong, Hana Mandlikova to Martina Hingis, and so many more............. I am praying that Maria Sharapova keeps her head in the right place.

I think she will ......... but it will be difficult because of all the attention.

She is a darling.

God bless a fresh, beautiful breeze in the world of sports.

Check out the description of her as a 10 year old in post # 20.

Good for you............. this darling girl is nearly a perfect athlete and a beautiful woman. She has a long way to go, and cares about the game of tennis.

You just might like a great woman such as Greer Garson.

Fianlly, a women's tennis star that's not a "manly woman."

Chris is my all time favorite player. She was always a gracious winner. It was her charm why so many fans loved her.

Chris is a darling..... one of the greatest of all time. And, the fact that she never played aggressive tennis, played from the base line ...... just a very brilliant game makes me want to refer to her as the Rod Laver of female tennis.

Chrissie was so great and such a LADY!!

She still is!

I remember watching many matches (finals) between Chrissy and Martina.

Although Martina was a serve-and-volleyer, Chris stood at the baseline going back and forth running down the ball. Some great rallies between the two of them.

Chris was so good at that baseline with the flat forehand.

I played from 7th grade until 11th grade. I made varsity my freshman year until my junior year and went to the Girls Wisconsin State Tennis tournement my freshman year. It was a great experience for me.

I still play in summer with my sister. She played through her university years. My mom was good in her day too.

I'm left-handed and my backhand is better than my forehand.

I really love Monica's backhand. Soooo powerful and short angles. She was a sweetheart. I miss watching her play.

Steffi had one of the best forehands in women's tennis.

Justine Henin-Harden has great one-handed backhand. She's really fun to watch. She's tiny, but she can pack a punch that's for sure.
