In the AFC, the playoff spots are pretty much sewn up except for the sixth spot. But the NFC is a different story. With the two wildcard leaders, Vikes and seahawks, playing today and 4 games to go, six 5-7 NFC teams have an excellent chance of closing the gap to one game for the wildcard.
Out of the six 5-7 NFC teams, three stand out to me; Tampa, Carolina, and Chicago.
Game of the week is NY Jets at Pittsburgh, hands down.

If Dallas uses the same quarterback they used last week, they might have a chance. They should have been using him all season long.

If Julius Jones had stayed healthy all year, there's no telling where the boys would be right now.

So is this the week Manning beats Marino's record?
To: brewer1516
I haven't kept up with it, but if it's anywhere under 10, Manning has a shot.
To: Vigilantcitizen
They might have been in the thick of things in the Wild Card race.

Manning needs 5 to break Marino's mark.
But QB more concerned trying to 'get into the playoffs'
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6680934/
Manning already has thrown 44 touchdowns and owns a quarterback rating of 126.3. The NFL record is Steve Youngs 112.8.

GREAT! Washington is on tonight!
This means:
1) More important games will not be preempted for the Redskins in my area.
2) I can get to bed earlier as I won't have to watch the late game.

Houston has given up an NFL-high 29 touchdowns on defense, and rank 28/32 on defense passing yards and 31/32 on defense completion percentage. They rank at or near the bottom defending against the pass in key categories.
If you're anywhere near a "gaming establishment" and are offered a prop bet on Manning breaking the record this week, you might consider it.

Here's one Eagles Die Hard who envisions anything but an easy win tonight.
The Redskins appear to have gotten on the same page offensively, Portis could exploit our somewhat suspect run defense and the Skins impressive D held us to one touchdown in the first half of our previous meeting.
Peering into my crystal ball, I see a late David Akers field goal sealing this one for the Birds. The gaming public in Eagleville would be wise to take the 9 points.

It's not impossible; he's thrown 6 td's, what, twice now this season?
To: brewer1516
He's only thrown for 6 once, against Detroit, but he's thrown for 5 three times. And one of those was against Houston in week 10.

Take my flag down. Have a few glasses of wine to numb me and then start cheering for the Steelers - since I live in Pittsburgh.

Sorry I had to run off, but anyway....
2004 NFC south Champs.
Hope to see y'all in the playoffs. I think we'd have to play our best game to beat you. Your Oline will matchup well against our smaller Dline, and your defense is the type that does well against Vick.
To: bikepacker67
Honestly, we're so used to it by now, that you just live with that dull, dead feeling for a couple of weeks and move on. How many times have we been to the Conference Championship in Football/Hockey/Basketball/Baseball only to come up short? Most of us just expect it to continue.
The real question is what do we do if we ever win a championship? I'm not sure most of us will have any idea what to do.
