It's little know fact that the "Dimebag" nickname was not a drug reference, but in actuality was a nickname he got from a music store in his hometown, as a teenager, when he would go in and buy a little bag of 10 guitar picks every other day... The proprieter jokingly told him he was addicted to them (he wore them out fairly quickly) and started calling him "Ten-Pack" Darrell, but it sounded silly and it eventually transformed into "Dime-Bag".
Everyone close to him denies it today, because it sounds so silly, and to this day will swear up and down that it is a drug reference because it adds "street cred"...

I've met the guys on several occasions, either following gigs, or just hanging out at a club. Dime had an uncanny ability of remembering names.
He was the nicest guy. He was well regarded and will be missed. And he was one hell of an axe grinder.
But what do I know -- I'm just a thrash drummer. Seems like that might be a bannable offense, based on some of the narrow minded and ignorant reactions here.
You've been here long enough to know that you are not supposed to publically post private FReepmails in the forum.
You could have just as easily sent the mods a FReepmail, and dealt with the issue that way.
