Now that he has been convicted, I am wondering if that $100,000 loan (which, of course, is a pittance compared to what this case cost them) cannot be secured by that house.

He is not suppose to benefit in any way from her death; I wonder if that includes his defense.

I think the equity, less the 100k, will be split between the parties. The civil judge will probably void the Peterson lien as to Laci's estate. I'm betting the Petersons will collect what they can solely from their son's proceeds.
