Having trouble with AIM

Posted on 12/06/2004 10:25:10 PM PST by TitanicMan2003

I went to log on to AOL Instant Messanger the other day, only to have it tell me I was banned from signing in. I had done nothing that I know of that would cause them to suspend me, and never got anything from AOL explaining why this had happened. I was able to create another account and sign on with that, but would prefer to use my old one (since that's the one all my friends have).

Any advice is welcome, or a way to actually get a hold of someone at AOL to ask what happened.

It might depend if you are logging in from work or not. My Netscape Mail account no longer works from my place of business and the error I get back makes it appear that my account is no longer valid. From my home ISP or a library the mail account is just fine. You may be having a similar problem.

Get any email lately "from" AOL?
Click on any URLs in that email?
If so, your account may have been hijacked.

(because the displayed "URL" in the email was
not where clicking on it actually took you)

I quit AOL in 19-97or98, or somewhere around that time. I think it was version 2 or so. I had the same problem then LOL.

It's an AOL mistake - you should be back up by Monday.
