I am thinking of upgrading my older digital camera, and I would like some comments from other digital photographers.
1. What camera (make/model) do you use?
2. If you were buying a new camera today, what makes/models would you consider and why?
3. What features do you consider important?
4. What features do you consider less useful?
Thanks!
I dropped it once, slight dent, still worked. Body is all steel - no plastic. Great optics, only the Leica M series took better pictures (but I could never afford those).
They are all "memory sticks". My SD card works in my camera and my Palm.
I have a USB card reader (Which BTW, reads 6 formats) that I stick it in and it is addressed just like a disk drive. Copy, delete, etc. Pop out of camera, pop into reader. That quick. It can also be popped into the readers at Costco/Sams/Walmart etal to get prints.
The Pentax I own has a metal frame. It also has a small dent just above the view finder that got through the leather case when I was forced to throw it from a sinking canoe onto the bank of a lake in Minnesota.
The '50s and '60s Pentaxes were also good cameras. Most of the photographers I knew then (early '60s) had Pentaxes, Nikons or Leicas.
Uhm. No. SD = Secure Digital. MemoryStick is a (pricey) format developed by SONY.

Still a "memory stick". I stick the memory in my camera, I stick the memory in my Palm, I stick the memory in my computer, I stick the memory into the Costco reader. Now you can even stick the memory in TV's.
Ah! And since I stick my batteries in my camera, phone, etc., its a BatteryStick. Got ya.
No. They are batteries. You are strange.
And MemoryStick is a Sony format. They even registered the name. But go on, keep deluding yourself.
That is why I wrote "memory stick" instead of MemoryStick! What is your problem.

MemoryStick is a Sony format. SD is not MemoryStick, just as it is not Compact Flash. Sure, SD is compact and its a type of flash memory, but it's not Compact Flash. Not a complex concept to understand.
Is it a compact flash? Note the lower case 'c'.
I know. That is why I said it was SD.
Yes. It is more compact that CompactFlash.
So you're going to refer to it as compact flash?
There's a reason why companies register names.
No. I referred to it as SD and will continue to refer to it as SD. That is the format but it is still flash memory. Duh.
Yea, nice try, Mr.SD-Is-a-memory-stick-cause-I-stick-it-everywhere.
I really don't know what your problem is but you should get it fixed.
Alright, alright. Just messing with ya... Slow day at work :)
I thought so. Have a good day! :-)
