The "LA Connection" was the group of actors...Mad Movies, I believe was the name. I loved that show.

The LA Connection thing was syndicated (I caught many of them on tv but didn't have cable).
From the looks of it, they did it "live" before an audience watching the film (complete with microphones).
The Firesign Theater also dubbed films (generally adverture serials).
