1.Can I remove I.E. 5.5 and not loose my Active Desktop, let alone my entire O.S.?

2.If I like Firefox,and I can't dump I.E. 5.5 from my computer,what would be the point of switching?

Unofficial Mozilla FAQ:
"There are programs called '98Lite' (for Windows 9x and ME) and '2000/XP Lite' (for Windows 2000 and XP) that allows you to easily remove Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and many other Windows components."

Many people, myself included, have multiple browsers on their systems.

The reasons to use either Mozilla or Firefox are myriad, not the least of which is increased security. I.E. Mozilla/Firefox do not use ActiveX.
