There is an automatic three hundred word limit that you can post from a source that must be excerpted.

If you excerpt an article you're not supposed to post more of it in comments.

I do the [snip] thing in excerpted articles so that the pertinent parts of the article can be discussed, while bypassing a lot of blah, blah blah.

If you don't post the interesting parts of the article other people might do it so that they can comment on it.

If they comment on sections of the article that are not posted it doesn't make sense to someone just reading the post and not going to the source to read the full article.

Thanks for your reply, I understand more now. I didn't know about the word limit until now.

I guess I just miss the old days when we could post the entire thing.

Some people seem to be snipping when it is not a site that must be excerpted, and I was wondering why. I see now that you, however, are just following the rules.

Do you know where I can find the current list of sites that must be excerpted? It must have been updated since I last read it.
