Can anybody possibly IMAGINE what kind of a world ours would be, if there were no America; - if we simply did not exist; - if the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans were all part of one tremendous watery mass with NO AMERICA between them. Nothing but water. What would the rest of people on the planet be doing? What kind of life, society, living standards would there be........without AMERICA??

And as American Jews, we are lucky to be doubly hated -- I guess the most hated people there are.

From a Canadian (er ... I promised I would never refer to myself as a Canadian again, so ...) - from the point of view of a resident of the nation of Canada:
Canada indeed belongs in that list. It is assumed of everyone - at least where I live - the reasonable position for a Canadian is the at least hate George Bush - and to despise America for a time. To think or state otherwise garners dirty looks.
I agree completely, anti-Israelism, anti-Zionism, ect..., is thinly veiled antisemitism. In the same vein, anti-Bush is really veiled anti-Republicanism. Do we really think anyone else as a Republican would have made any difference to the world view. Let me explain the simplistic European mind-set. Republicanism = Fanatical bible thumping Christian = the people we hate, b/c we hate God = we will always criticize a Republican President. To go further, anti-Republicanism is another form of anti-conservatism. Now, anti-Americans, the real nasty kinds, hate everything conservative - fiscal conservatism or social conservatism. The larger group may include SOME fiscal conservatives, but in Canada, I bet you 9 out of 10 social conservatives are also fiscal ones. Hence the second largest party in Canada is both. Indeed the other opposition parties were crying a river that Bush made a special visit with Stephen Harper (the leader of the Canadian Conservative Party) but didn't meet the socialist and anti-American Bloc or NDP. Gee, Canadians seem to want it both ways. Bash Bush and then bash him again because he refuses to meet with those that have made his name into a Canadian curse word.
In fact, Canadians do not realize how vile, arrogant and rude we really are - at least to Americans. We insult and insult and insult and then expect George Bush to politely engage with us. I speak from experience because my wife, an American living here in Canada, gets this at her workplace. Co-workers come to tell her how evil George Bush is, even after she told them she would vote for him. Have no qualms about saying they "hate Americans" in front of her. As a Canadian, if I lived in the US, I would expect Americans to treat me with some respect, unless I showed that as a person, I do not deserve any respect.
Canadians who are suppose to be compassionate, don't care enough to respect those who live in Canada either as Americans or as their relatives. We are hypocrites. We don't like Don Cherry saying some stupid little thing like calling the French cream-puffs. In fact in context, he was talking about French hockey players. Big freaking deal. In the largest stretch of the imagination maybe a case can be made to call that statement a bigoted one. Yet, Canadians are bigots day in and day out. It never ends. And here is the truth of it all - most Canadians who engage in their anti-American slurs don't know Americans. I've been to America. I've not just MET Americans - I have gotten to actually KNOW Americans. And yes, there are some notable differences. But in general, as a people, there isn't much of one. Some Americans are arrogant yes. And so are too many Canadians. Indeed we have become WORSE than the image we have painted of Americans. Arrogant and navel gazing.
The good thing is the last poll showed 28% of us are actually pro-American. I'm impressed. Still 48% are anti-American.
The anti-Americanism in this multilateral world is disturbing. It goes beyond small differences. In fact I see that the world is dividing. The rest of the West is slowly becoming ENEMIES of the United States. The future may indeed see two worlds. The one of the United States and Israel - with the Europeans and Islamofacists on the other. Where will Canada be? If it comes to that day I hope I can get my green card.

Well something went wrong with my previous post.
Anti-Bushism is simply veiled anti-Americanism. Clinton was OK b/c he was Democrat = liberal = not a Christian. Sine Europeans hate Christians he was a better fit.

A problem with these foreign detractors is that they aren't saying anything the American Left hasn't already said. Connection? Which came first?
I wonder how many of the baby boomers, starting with those born in 1946, were affected by the Soviet propaganda barrage that was part of the Cold War. Getting Americans to turn against their own country was probably one of the greatest goals of the Soviets. Whether they succeeded or something else was responsible for disaffection among Americans is hard to say.
