My son received a similar invitation to a Congressional Defense-Intelligence Leadership Program.

Looks very formal and exclusive, but fine print does not identify the "selection" method nor nominator - and it seems to be major bucks. Seems to imply this leads to a career at DIA/CIA/NSA.

We threw it away - son is fielding offers from fine colleges for academic/athletic stipends anyway.

I imagine your daughter is, too.

She's got her heart set on the Airforce Academy. I was wondering if it would be a factor in gaining admission to the Academy? She goes to the best school around, has a 3.875 GPA, and is a pushy/shovey type.

The school seems to be working very hard on her behalf and I don't want them to think we don't value the hard work they've been doing on assisting with her future. She's got a few academic scholarships that have been offered to her at places she's really not that keen on.

Thanks for your comments. I got the impression it was heavy on the fluff factor too.
