Stories like this always remind me of when Johnny Carson ate a bowl of potato chips while his guest, a lady who collected "chips with faces on them," had her head turned.

The bid started @ 3,000 dollars. The seller last two auctions, a t-shirt and a boxing glove. Both items were paid for but not delivered. I don't believe the sandwich sat around for 10 years with no mold. But then again.........

and after taking one bite out of it, noticed the Virgin Mary's face staring back at her...

...saying "Putteth this, mine holy[-wheat] and partially-eaten image in a box and pack it 'round with cotton balls - and I shall be a reminder unto thee to keepeth away from the carbs, never play 23 on the roulette wheel, 'stand' on a 19 at blackjack, and sell me on eBay in ten years - else ye be taken as a loony for praying to a piece of bread".

Duyser, 52, believes the sandwich has brought her luck over the years and is truly convinced of its divinity.

"I would like all people to know that I do believe that this is the Virgin Mary Mother of God," says Duyser, a work-from-home jewelry designer. "That is my solemn belief. People ask me if I have had blessings since she has been in my home. I do feel I have, I have won $70,000 on different occasions at the casino near my house."

Ah, hell - time to screw good fortune and lead a crappy life like everyone else.

She sold something $28,000, which presumably was giving her $70,000 per casino visit or a combined total of $70,000 for all casino visits so far. Not sure which. Now, you could argue that selling the sandwich was not a good business decision. However, a counter argument could be that the sandwich obviously didn't give her any sense on how to handle money properly, and therefore it was a good decision to sell the sandwich. However, you can counter that argument by saying if she had the judgement to sell the sandwich that was making her a lot of money, then it was really cursed because it caused her to sell the money-making sandwich. But then you could say that money in and of itself is a curse, and that the sandwich was evil because money is its root. And then you could come back by saying that selling the sandwich for $28,000 would still give you evil, because that's a lot of money for an old sandwich.

At this point, I think you can make a good case that the sandwich was a false prophet and, in fact, really evil.

Dunno about luck, but it brought her $28,000 and fifteen minutes of fame, whether it is the Blessed Virgin or not.
