Because fashion is what they DO! The woman hang out all day together in their homes and apartments. It is like a BIG girls party. They do each other's hair, tell stories, eat, drink tea, read magazines, watch movies, gossip, dance, show off their pretty clothes and 18K jewelry.

There is no such thing as dressing frumpy, having a bad hair day or going without make-up. Fashion is a verb for them.
