How angry are the blue-staters? Can you conceive or imagine a civil war within the next 50 years? One only needs to peruse the DU to understand the depth of their hatred.
I want to be a uniter, not a divider.
If that doesn't work... *evil cackle*
Actually there's a very amusing piece from NRO (posted on FR somewhere) by the Dean of the Naval War College on the question.
He points out the Unionists in the Blue States would presumably set up their own government, recognized by Washington, or maybe their own state like West Virginia during the late unpleasantness.
Of course we wouldn't even need to fight them: they can't feed themselves. As the NRO piece points out a figate to blockade each of their ports and its over.
And he does note how much fun reconstruction would be--skip the 'charity to all and malice toward none' and right on to 'radical Reconstruction'!
Well, this is how history is probably going to pan out. During the actual Civil War it took a generation for the hate to start to peter out. New waves of immigrants also came that did not have the baggage of the Civil War and the older Americans with grudges died out. The same will happen here. The leftist baby boomers who tried to break
"Amerika" over its knee in the 60s will die out and new immigrants who could not give a hoot about the Vietnam War (and boy, does the left like to invoke Vietnam) will move in.
Are you sure you want to? It's a barren wasteland, frozen god-forsaken, emptiness. :)
That's a pretty good list. I go to Texas about every two months and if I wasn't so in love with the solitude of my ranch I'd think about moving down there.
I try my best to keep the state lightly populated. Clay County, home of the University Of South Dakota was the only non-res county to go for Bush. Lots of libs down there.
Personally, I'm preparing for the zombie hordes.
But then again, isn't everybody???
Yep, she's a student there. She voted for Bush, but mourned for Daschle.
um, no, but I have seen "Fist of the North Star"
Provocative.
try Blood Meridian (or the Evening Redness in the West) by Cormac McCarthy.
