I had a problem like that and what I did was take off the back of my P.C. tower and poured scalding hot tomato soup all over the mother board. The IT guys said I should do that everytime I get an error message. Or maybe they said never to do that again. I can't remember.

Easy fix...download and install
Thunderbird.
It is 100xs better than OE and you won't have any of these problems.

Possible causes are: Low disk space. Low memory. Listen to Bill , buy something, bigger......or convert to Thunderbird, Firefox, and (Linux) thats optional....

Download a copy of Mailwasher free version and you can read your emails while they are still on your ISPs server.
As for the error...what OS are you using? The msimn is MS Instant Messenger I'd bet. It is linked to OE operations. You could try to do a system restore back to a pre-error point in time if you are using ME or XP.
Best advice so far: Get Thunderbird or Eudora for a mail client and dump MS OE.

Coleus: 302damnfast more than likely has the correct answer. It should be noted that OE is a cobbled together and patched antique. The cause can be many different scenarios. Too many emails, addresses, or personalities. Not indexing your db, crashing your computer, shutting down incorrectly...all are culprits.
MS is close to releasing a new OE that is more like Outlook, but with newsgroups and rss feed support. It'll come bundled with a new IE that has, among other new features, tabbed browsing. So, keep your spirits up. And IF you are using ME, junk it! :)
