So, a song with rolling stone in the title and the group, "Rolling Stones" are placed in the top 10 by "Rolling Stone" magazine.

It reminds me of the best rock song of all time they did a couple of years ago and a piece of garbage like, "I Can't Get no Satisfaction" by the "Rolling Stones" beats out "Stairway to Heaven."

What a joke that magazine is.

Blitzkrieg Bop came in at 92. Baba O'Riley by the Who didn't make the top 150 from the list I saw. Unless I overlooked it, um shame on you Rolling Stone.

Johnny Nash did it.

I only saw the top 50. Blitzkrieg Bop is a worthy candidate, but has to be higher. As for Who songs, my top choice would be "Substitute."

Back in the day is not something I dwell on, but I caught Dylan a few times in the Village as well. WMMR in Philly was a truly underground station changing from a hellacious jazz station to underground. I also caught the Velvet Underground, Lothar and the Hand People, and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at a great place called The Trauma in Philadelphia... it predated the Electric Factory by a few months.

Sorry I don't agree on Dylan being flat out boring. Nobody suffers like Bob! Oh those lyrics... cut right to the core.

However, growing up in a household full of music I can certainly appreciate a well-rounded taste. While I can read music and painfully knockout a few tunes on the piano, I wasn't blessed with the performing genes. I got the appreciation genes [the bach part of myra is, in fact a bloodline] and I'm not meaning to be snobbish either.

We certainly agree on the Beatles... pure bubblegum in my estimation.

Oh and btw, I'm not a dude.

You're taking me back as well..Ever get to the Fillmore East in the Village?..64-65 was just amazing..But the best ever for me was Oct 64.. the Beach Boys were just coming east..they played a weekend at the Acadeny of Music...an old theater on 14th street..I caught all 5 shows..I've seen them about 5 times since..over the last 30 years..that was still the best..

Spinnin' donuts in the lawn! Classic fare!

Great screen name, by the way -- but you've heard that one before!

Yes, I did manage a Filmore East one time! But the best for me was Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground... a week at the Trauma and I caught every show!

The only thing great about Jack Black was when he got blown away by a 14.5mm Russian machine gun fired by Bruce Willis in The Jackal. Too bad his career couldn't have just died right there and then. As far as his so-called "music" goes, well, to steal a concept from "Airheads", I could fart on a snare drum and it would sound better.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Thanks, and yes I have! As I say on my about page, RR and the Ramones changed my life.

(If you ever meet someone with perfect pitch, what you won't find in their record collection is a Beatles album).

This is absolute garbage. As a matter of fact I know 3 people with perfect pitch. And they like the Beatles a lot. Because they grew up listening to their songs. Period.

The fact that a song doesn't modulate doesn't make it a bad song. IN FACT... if you just look at the biggest selling records of all time.... 99% of them never modulate. Now a song that stays in one key may bore the heck out of you.... and if that's how a song is measured for greatness, I mean whether or not it bores the heck out of psycho-bunny, then that's one thing. But that's not how I measure greatness. And to be honest, I don't think that's how most people measure it.

Look, I'm 45 years old. I play a number of instruments and have since a very young age. I play every week in front of 2000 + people. I've played with all levels of musicians. I mean all levels. Posting a piece of sheet music isn't going to impress me... okay?

You're the person who said you've never heard Dylans song "Like A Rolling Stone". I'm telling you, that speaks for itself. You've just defined yourself by your own words.

Here's what you ought to do.... buy the CD "highway 61 revisted". Sit down with headphones and listen to it from beginning to end. (you're gonna really love the harmonica in Queen Jane Aproximately when it gets loud and shrill enough to pop your ear drums :)) It might broaden your horizons a little.

Don't listen for perfect pitch, because only .0001 percent of the population hears it that way anyway. Just consider it a learning exercise and a study of a historical event.

LOL
