These people think outer space is just that part of the upper atmosphere and near earth space where most earth satellites operate. They seem unconcerned that their prohibitions will deny and are denying private development of space resources. So far they have produced the 1967 Outer Space Treaty and the 1984 Moon Treaty and various understandings and conventions. The US signed the 1967 but not the more onerous Moon Treaty. The 1967 Treaty itself effectively stops space development even though space resources begin and exist far beyond the region of interest of the arms controllers.

It is unbelievable that we can allow these men of limited vision to continue to impede our way.

It is unbelievable that we can allow these men of limited vision to continue to impede our way.

Or our defense, when we have all the evidence of history that those who would catch us off guard...will first sign paper treaties with us...or pretend to be seriously negotiating...or whatever denial works for them. All so that a Pearl Harbor attack will be successful. Now we have suffered yet another such sucker-punch with 9-11, but these idealogues are still living in 9-10.

And it is potentially a nuclear Pearl Harbor that they are putting us at risk of. Unabated Kerry-Think. With the IAEA shown to be a toothless paper tiger by both North Korea and Iran, and the fact that we virtually know nothing about Chinese R&D and deployments to any high confidence...we need to be prepared.
