Yep...I had heard (or read) that about R Lee's input on the dialogue. I have read a few books about Kubrick because of my love for his movies (FMJ, Barry Lyndon, Dr. Strangelove, Clockwork Orange, but less interested in Eyes Wide Shut and The Shining, although even those have their moments).

FMJ, IMO, is one of the most compelling movies ever made. The dialogue is tighter than a clam's *ss, the acting is first rate, the music is awesome and the direction is, well, Kubrickian.

less interested in Eyes Wide Shut and The Shining,

I'm with on EWS, but The Shining is one of the no kidding scariest movies ever made.

The isolation, and near perfect editing and cinematography, rank it up there with The Exorcist and Alien. One of Jack Nicholson's best roles, and the only King novel to translate effectively to the screen.
