Thank you for the suggestion, Amy.

There was a story here that the military would no longer deliver packages to "Any Soldier", it has to have an individuals name on it, they don't have time to deliver to the unnamed.

What does one send in a "Thanksgiving" package?

I'm getting a Christmas package ready now.

I put in a few hand held video games, same magazines, candy, Rice Krispy treats and dried fruit.

I have another package to mail ... it may get there late because it will weigh a ton. :) It will have 8 cans of chili beans (special request), 8 rolls of toilet tissue (special request), gold fish crackers, large mixed snacks and large can of sweetened fruit punch.

To adopt a military person for Thanksgiving, call a base and ask if there is a military person that would like to come to your house for dinner.

My friend's nephew is in San Diego and does not know anyone there. With Jim Robinson's help, I found some San Diego FReepers. Hildy has invited him and someone will pick him up so he will not have to use public transportation.

This is a wonderful way to let our military know that we appreciate what they are doing for us.

PatriciaRuth has a thread for sending cards and/or letters to the troops.

Send a Christmas Greeting to her and she will print it and include it in a package to either Iraq or Afganistan.
