"Jumped the Shark"

Phrase for the point where a TV show stops being watchable, and turns into a farce. Fonzie jumped a shark on water skis wearing his leather jacket, that was the end of "Happy Days" and the begining of a new term to describe the apex of a show's entertainment value. Other classic "Jump the Shark" moments include:

When Max and 99 got married and had a baby - Get Smart "Jumps."

The Brady Bunch brings in cousin Oliver.

Some shows NEVER jump. Hogan's Heros and Gilligan's Island (the original series) are two classics.
