Actually, I'm a computer scientist and I do use Linux on a daily basis. Just about every week, I see attempts by script kiddies using ssh bruteforcing program in my logs. You just made my point by saying that most people aren't computer savvy. As I pointed out above, someone who isn't savvy enough to protect themselves against spyware in Windows probably wouldn't know to secure services on a Linux box and choose a proper, secure password to prevent against someone completely taking over their machine.

Well, that's the point, they are kiddies, they label themselves as glorious "hackers" because they downloaded a free ssh script or they can send packets at high speed to an IP of their choice. Logic is for intrusive software to be written for the most used and less secure OS out there and the choice is quite clear, Windows. Oddly enough, I like MSFT and Bill Gates, I admire their tactics and marketing moves, I just think they can do a better job when it comes to security.
