On a slightly different note, something else happened yesterday I would like to share ~ this time it happened to my hubby. He stopped off at a local super market yesterday afternoon and happened to be exiting the store the time as a young man (around 22-23 years old). As it turned out their vehicles were parked next to one another and the two ended up chatting together as they walked toward their rides. My hubby said that when they reach their parked vehicles the young man noticed my hubby's Marine sticker on his bumper and the lad asked him if he was a veteran. My hubby replied that was indeed and the young man reached out to shake my husband's hand saying, "I just want to say thank you, sir".

My hubby's eyes sort of teared up a bit as he told me about this encounter last night and he remarked that as he shook this young man's hand he noticed the lads hands were calloused from hard work.

Young, hard-working and respectful ~ t'was a small gesture but t'was one that sure touched the heart of that old Marine (and his wife).

I don't know how prevalent it is, but the POW/MIA flag flies from the post office here in southern Illinois.

Not sure about the Federal buildings but the POW/MIA flag flies alongside Old Glory and the Michigan flag at our state capitol building.
