The Olympics showed the World that the NBA was not invincible. People are looking at both pro and college ball in a different light. This is almost a preseason poll; but a few games have been played. Why not start out early in looking at the college game?

For the record, I have been checking out a few polls, here Mark Bradley submitted a listing for the Atlanta Journal Constitution http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/ncaahoops/2004/14bradrank.html ; One may note his listing is heavily oriented towards his area of the country, nothing wrong with that.

Any other polls are welcome. This thread may not generate a lot of interest this early on, but at least it's on the board; and we all know that once the big dance begins, many are following the games.

As to the numbers appearing after the teams listed in parentheses, these must be the number of first place votes these teams generated.

I thought we were the FR B-ball thread?

Oh well, we'll see :)
Interesting Kentucky info I got from a friend:

Sparks sparks Cats! You were right about that! He scored 20 in the game against Ball State! Lets hear it for those slow, can't jump white rural Kentucky boys who do nothing but bleed BLUE! He had a breakout game and you know what, we are going to love this guy as much as the opposing coaches are going to hate him! Coaches son, assist maestro, and Kentucky longrifle shooter! By the way, newsflash, 7' 3" Shagari Alleyne ( you remember him - mega stiff from last year ), he had 4 dunks in 5 minutes in the second half and along with Patricks shooting ignited 2ea - 12 to 2 runs that blew a gritty Ball State squad in the weeds - stole their heart just like Pitino ball! Spurtability! bro should be a part of this young but talented team! Shag (as he is being called here) ran the floor like a runaway freight train and picked up 2 of the dunks on fast breaks off of lobs. The rolaids consumption just went up among the coaches who play us this year. Shag running the floor is a scary sight, I didn't know he could do that! It kinda reminded you of Sam Bowie doing that his freshman year, you know, not first man down, but trailing the first man down - WOW! He has gained 20 lbs of muscle in the weight room (271 lbs) and is learning to move his feet more quickly.I really didn't think he would be ready til next year or maybe his senior year, he definitely adds an opposing coaches insomnia factor to the cats game! The only other player in the country like him is Luke Senscher at Ga. Tech! Tallest player to ever wear a Ky uniform! And he is 3rd team center behind frosh Morris 6' - 10" 270lbs, and a stronger and improved Wookash Orbzuit ( he has actually made a three this year already ) 7' 1" 270 lbs. We are green, but have great size inside. Rondo (freshman) is starting at point with Sparks (4th year Jr) at 2, Azibuike at 3, and Chuck at 4. Be sure to put Dec 4 on your schedule - The dreaded tarheels vs the precocious cats! CBS WWWOOOOOOO!!!! We may not win it all, but it is going to be a fun ride!!!!

The roliads line really had me laffin....
