The tabs are great. Don't have all those pages running separately.... What I'd like would be an ability to "tag" a window and specify that I want to open a link in a new tab in that window. Know of any extension to do that?
Also, do you know of any option to 'clone' the current page in a new tab or window? MSIE did that; FireFox opens new windows as blank.

As I can always be counted on to say...
Not as good as Avant Browser (www.avantbrowser.com).
AvantBrowser, also free --
- has movable tabs at the bottom of the screen
- built-in popup blocker
- minimizes to the systray (i.e. off the bar), the back up with a click; is fast
- reads all internet script rather than snottily refusing some as "improper"....
And other cool stuff. Try it out!

Don't know any and yes it opens blank. Never thought of the opening blank, or untitled until you mention it. I usually just past a link in there or whatever.

I am using Mozilla and was thinking of switching, but didn't know if Firefox copies my saved e-mails, address book and bookmarks.
For that matter, I am going to install Windows XP on my computer and don't want to lose all my addresses and e-mails.
Does anyone know where I can find the file or folder that stores all that info so I can copy it to a CD before reformatting my computer?

Linux is my next step on the road to weaning myself from Microsoft all together. (Perhaps we could start a 12-Step group..Microsofters Anonymous? I'll get my six month coin in December.

I use Firefox v0.9.2 and it does very well. I also have Firebird 0.7 and I say the same for that. The plugins can be a pain in te butt but once I'm over that, it is a very good browser. I have two computers, one a Pentium II, 266 MHz Gateway tower and the other, an IBM 570 Thinkpad, Pentium II, 366 MHz, which I mainly use and use now. I use Windows 98SE, I like the tabbed browsing and on this Thinkpad, every once in a while when I startup IE 6.0, it freezes and I have to stop it and start it again. I still keep IE since I do websites and there might be a time I might need IE but Firefox is the way to go.

"the ability of right-clicking on a link and selecting "Open in new tab", this is something that firefox is sorely missing."
Not only does Firefox have this feature, but you can also click your middle mouse button (if you have one) on a link to open it in a new window.

Yes. I use it and I love it. I had up to ten page/tabs open on election night. No need for TV.

I've been using it for about a month. I have a bit of a problem with some password protected sites (I get a secondary request for 'master password' which I have to ESC out of) but even with that prefer it to IE.
Tabs are great, and tab extensions make them even better (I use tabbrowser). There is also an 'open with IE extension' which I like because of the above problem.
Heck, why don't you give it a try? It will not screw up your system. Just don't make it the default browser until you have made up your mind.

However, the lack of support for ActiveX (or something) is causing problems on a few sites and I must open IE. Not supporting ActiveX sounds like a feature, not a bug. MS's notion of "security" for ActiveX is that ActiveX controls are "signed," so that at least, by golly, you supposedly know who trashed your machine for you...

So, If I also get Firebird and install that what folder will I have to copy to save my e-mails when I upgrade my computer and have to reformat everthing?

Depends on what OS you're running. I don't know where Mozilla keeps stuff under Windows.

I agree with you in theory, but the problem is that I can't open or use the sites that have either ActiveX or something else FF doesn't support, and am forced to open IE. Then, as soon as I open IE, I become susceptable to the adware and other things that FF is supposed to prevent by its use.
Those who frequent these sites will find FF of absolutely no use. To me, that isn't the best way to promote a product. They need to figure out an alternative, or a safe way to support this. Otherwise, allow support of it on a user-controlled basis.
