Ha. I also recall that if you traveled between Houston and Livingston (Splendora to Goodrich mostly) with a 97 Rock sticker on your car – especially if you had long hair – you were pretty much guaranteed to get pulled over.

They had a problem with the hippies, evidently. Had to calm them down with batons and flashlights pretty regularly, the way I remember it.

When Humpy Parker was Sheriff of San Jacinto County he had four priorities for stopping vehicles. One of them was rock station bumper stickers. Humpy was sent to prison, after he was convicted of taking drugs/guns off people his thugs stopped then planting the guns/drugs on other people. A real piece of work.
