You make the mistake of assuming the population will remain in place after your split. You use a few high-level stats without considering exactly what makes up the tax revenue input. For example, does NYC and Chicago claim all of a corporation's tax payments as "theirs" in your number? Do you think that they will choose to remain behind in your new Blue nation? Look at the per capita transfer payments and you get a completely different picture of the cash flows. Now look at the demographics of your big cities and try to imagine who will stay and who will go. Instead of talking aboiut secession, we should be talking about expulsion.
