Also, it is silly to be offended by stereotypes, precisely for the reason you cited: Even if it is true that Germans (and most Americans, too, BTW) have absolutely no fashion sense and can't find anything wrong with wearing white socks with sandals, everybody knows that there are always individual exceptions. So, there is no reason to get excited about it.
Interestingly, most stereotypes really are true. There is a good book about this subject, too.
This is about nationalism, and not patriotism. This "American men are the best" is not different from the Nazi interpretation of "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles". There´s nothing wrong in being proud of the achievements of your country, but there is a fault in thinking your "race" is a better. So, if you have no valuable contribution to this thread tell others your orders.
