I agree. Remove the spyware.
And I don't know about XP, but in 98 I went into the msconfig and removed a bunch of programs from the start menu. Computer fires up much faster and runs smoother.
In case anyone want to do this, here are the steps in Windows98
START
RUN
TYPE msconfig in the box
CLICK OK
CLICK STARTUP tab.
UNCHECK programs you don't use.
(If in doubt, leave it)

Yes, Windows XP uses the msconfig command to open the start program menu tab. Alot of unnessary programs run in the background, like QTime, RealPlayer and others that check for updates. You can do that on your own. There are more too than just those, but the XP program has a list of required ones in their Help section. You can check that list with what is running on your system at start up.
And yes Howlin, XP picks up alot of junk too.
