The only theater near us has the MOST uncomfortable seats you can imagine and terrible sound and not too good video, so we much prefer the dvds at home in comfy seats, great home theater sound and picture and I also like to put on the subtitles to see what was missed in the theater. Can't WAIT for it to get here so we can have our own trilogy Tuesday at home!
That's too bad. The local theater that handled ours last year was a good theater, and managed it really, ealy well. The day sped by.
No matter how cool a home theater system is, though, the one element that made it extra special is the dynamic of watching them with a theater packed with die-hard LOTR fans. Hissing Wormtongue, cheering other scenes and appearances; just way-cool.
