Word For The Day, Day, Date
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
peripatetic
\Per`i*pa*tet"ic\, a.
1. Walking about; itinerant.
2. Of or pertaining to the philosophy taught by Aristotle (who gave his instructions while walking in the Lyceum at Athens), or to his followers. ``The true peripatetic school.'' --Howell.
adj : traveling especially on foot; "peripatetic country preachers"; "a poor wayfaring stranger" [syn: wayfaring] n 1: a person who walks from place to place 2: a follower of Aristotle or an adherent of Aristotelianism [syn: Aristotelian, Aristotelean, Peripatetic]
Etymology: [Middle English peripatetik, from Latin peripatticus, from Greek peripattikos, from peripatein, to walk about, or from peripatos, covered walk (where Aristotle allegedly lectured) : peri-, peri- + patein, to walk; see pent- in Indo-European Roots.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
The peripatetic losers are coming up out of the holes they dug for themselves last week and are starting to spew their vile venom again. Silence had been golden>....

No pushing at the door please!
wake up, there is more gloating left to be done!
The liberals peripatetic staggering about after getting their clocks cleaned so thoroughly by Duba is almost pathetic, but moreso, amusing.
A+ i have been enjoying the heck out of it, myself!
And I too. There are a whole group of Kerryites here, and they still can't figure out why he lost so badly.
Mebbe you ought to ring the bell louder. No one seems to be interested in attending class today.
well i sure hope you are being sympathetic.....NOT!!!!!
oh the heck with them, they will just get marked down on their work whenever they deign to show up here. that'll learn 'em! ; )
I just happen to be wandering past when you rang the bell. I can empathize and sympathize when those needs arise.
this group is peripatetic in general this AM. too much gloating going on, i presume.
Too much tequila, I suspect.
mourning....? in radical islam?
the only thing i am mourning is that the heretofore silent bubbleheaded types are starting to open their yaps, a la Streisand.
The peripatetic heavenly bodies of the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter seem to be aligning themselves nicely in the morning skies.
Could it be that we have reason to be extra thankful and appreciative this Holiday season?
I vaguely remember that Perry Patetic was briefly a college roommate of mine some $&^x# years ago...
A+ and yes, i think that we all have much to thank God for this Christmas season. : )
i'm thinking you only vaguely remember college, period... ; )
