Anyone think it can happen? Please 60 Votes in '06!!!!!!
That should be our mantra....60 in '06!!!!
Am I wrong? I believe there has been discussion of changing the rules for the fillibuster, and that they do have enough votes for a procedural change.
If the RATS become more beligerent and increase their obstruction it is a very real possibility. The power struggle between their wide and divergent conglomeration of single issue minority (in size, not race) and fringe groups is going to be entertaining to watch.
you're already losing chafee, snowe and collins
You need more than 60, because with only 60 at least 1 of them will get a big head and think he can hold his own party hostage for his own stupid games.
It wouldn't make a difference. Whoever replaces Daschole will just say we need 80.
5,000 unborn babies NOT being murdered each day would be a better goal.
How bout by next month?
How many Democrap Senators come up for re-election or may be retiring in 06??? If They've got more at risk in 06 than the Republicans, it becomes a distinct possibility.
Better make that 63 to allow for misfit like Jeffers Chafee and Spector
Sixty seven would be better. That's enough for impeachments and constitutional amendments.
Okay 67...I like 67 so we can flaunt it...tired of people telling me today that there was NO MANDATE...
Yeah, but even 60 wouldn't prevent Chafee/Snowe/Collins or Specter from joining a Dem filibuster.
The trouble with this idea (and I love your tag-line, BTW), is that if we had 60 votes, and some of those 60 were McCain, Snowe, Chafee, Specter, etc...., we still wouldn't have gotten anywhere. They'd defect on every vote that mattered.
If Thundercalves gets the nomination in '08 I guarantee a pickup of another 5 senate seats.
I'm pretty sure that the new Congress can vote a rule change and I think they will based on the Bush mandate.
I unfortunately seriously doubt this is possible. gaining a couple more would be nice though. a good 57, heh. The states with good chances of pickups came up this year and we got them. Apart from not as many red state openings, the enticement for blue states not to give any more of a margin to the GOP in congress may be overwhelming.
I'm also concerned that even the big gain this year won't be able to break a filibuster, since many of those (like Zell) willing to allow an up or down vote are the ones we just replaced. That and the RINOs may switch sides (hopefully they'll just feel free to vote against, in the minority, but still allow a vote)...of course, forcing the vulnerable Dems to filibuster may help in making the case to oust them in 2 years (or at least to allow a vote in order to avoid the obstruction charges and cement their reelection...which I'd be all too happy to conceed so long as we get our judges through)
17 Democrats and Jim Jeffords are up for re-election in '06.... including HILLARY!
I say 100 republican senators should be the ultimate goal!!!....lets get rid of these hippie relics once and for all!
