I know it! I remember thinking that the parallels were uncanny!

Funny thing is, I actually did think (and mentioned to Steve), while watching ID for the first time..."That's the kind of president we need!" And that was the kind of president we got, just when we needed him the most.

I reminded Steve about that in 2001.

I liked that movie, but it's been forever since I saw it. I should see if the library has it...

I've been getting movies from the library at the college most weekends lately. Free is good! Most are VHS - they have very few DVDs - but I think that's worth the trade-off.

When both movies came out, the actor/director/somebody specifically called a news conference to say the POTUS character was inspired by Bill Clinton.

Still, Bill may have had a hand in the script, since the Hillary-character got killed off (but had a heroic death) in ID. That convinced me the movies were more fantasy than "Mars Attacks".
