Well, the Bakshi (sp) version was good as far as it went - I adored it when it was theater-released back in the day...

But I'm glad 7yo saw the Rankin-Bass first, then he could handle the more graphic battle scenes in Bakshi... which prepped him for the Two Towers - Helm's Deep was pretty intense...
