The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Impossible we at acme only give out catalogs to ducks and coyotes. There is no way a rabbit or a roadrunner would be able to operate our products.

Ah yes, the mark 7 balloon assisted anvil delivery system. Always a top seller.

So you're saying that Acme is pre-programmed to favor roadrunners and rabbits?

perfecting rocket powered devices is alwasy a challenge here at Acme because we ensure all our rocket powered devices are equipped with the launch point return system. In the event of loss of control all rocket powered devices will return to the point of departure within a short time. More advanced systems will return to the person who initiated launch regardless of any movement by that person. We always strive to prevent rocket powered devices from getting away from the control of the user and this small but critical safety feature is just one example of our ongoing commitment to customer service. So far we have had zero complaints about loss control of any systems equipped with this handy feature.

Certainly not. They would not be able to operate the gear which is why we do not send catalogs to them.

Did Acme test the efficacy of their equipment when operated by coyotes and ducks in the vicinity of roadrunners and rabbits? The frequency of backfires in conjunction with the presence of roadrunners and rabbits is too high to be merely chance.
