The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I have refrained, repressed, held back, buried within, and denied the impulse too long...here it goes...

...the NaNo project...

Shazbot!

I apologize.

Particularly if it has already been done. A lot.

Exactly. "Shazbot!"

"Mork & Mindy was a spin-off from an episode of Happy Days seen in February 1978, in which an alien from the planet Ork landed on Earth and attempted to kidnap Richie. So popular was the nutty character created by Robin Williams that Williams was given his own series in the fall of 1978, and it became an instant hit."

Mork (Williams) had an alien vocabulary that included the greeting "Nano nano" and the expletive "shazbot!"

Good evening. We went out and did a little Christmas shopping. Found some trees for the train set that were pretty good, but we didn't get them yet, wanted to check out another place downtown that turned out to have less.

The model train shop had one of these.... it's big! what do you think?

Wow!!! That's awesome! Is it O gauge?

Yah know... it'll even go well with Dona's red and white tree theme. Is it expensive?

Just to let you know, the poor sucker who had to stay up all night in the barracks IAW the 1SG duty roster was called the Charge of Quarters.

Hope that helps.

It's not bad...$50 - and the one pictured there says G gauge, but the one at the train shop said O, looked the right size, and looks nicely made. It even lights up.

I just couldn't decide if it is too big.... I mean.... he needs a bigger table. It stands about 2 feet tall.

I also can't decide if a light house belongs in a train environment.

What do you think? They have other buildings and stuff.

Evening Corin - I'd say 'break a leg' like they do show-biz but I don't want to risk it.

Great term "terrorpists" that should go in the HH lexicon.

Sorry to hear bout Nana's shoulder.

The lighthouse is PERFECT and a must-have, if it comes in O gauge. Really... it's too perfect. We'll make it work with the layout.

He'd love it.

Well, I'll double check the gauge on it when we go back tomorrow, because if you click that link, it says O in the title, but says G gauge in the text. What is G gauge? bigger or smaller? Because the dimension quoted seems about like the one at the train shop and the guy at the train shop ~said~ it was O.

Evening Hair - that is really neat. G guage is a new one on me, IRRC it was standard, 0, 027, HO, TT in the 'olden days' They got some newfangled thing called N now.

I wouldn't worry about the website. I distinctly remember looking for and finding "O Guage" on the box at the store.

I did a little googling, and it looks like "G" is a larger gauge, maybe double size from "O". But looking at that, if it is 23" high then the little lighthouse keeper dude would be about 5/8 to 3/4 or so tall... which seems about right for "O"... but maybe I'm wrong...
