Was that really necessary?

I'm not going to comment...

Hey, what are the tentative Entmoot dates? My little sister wants to come visit and I need to make sure the times don't conflict...

Hair - great 'Kitty' and Gidget pics. Kitty seems quite content to have the 'mouse' cornered. Gidget, as does Gypsygirl, seems to take it all in stride. Great Christmas Plant, though I must confess, I do not know what it is.

LSA is commencing to hang ornaments. The wonderful thing about an artificial tree is the branches are heavy enough for the really cool ornaments you can get now. They seem to be making them bigger and/or heavier than formerly. Perhaps due to more people using artificial trees?

Most of the trees on the lots around here are Scotch pine, some Eastern White, Balsam Fir and lately a few Frazier Firs. Freshness is not there long suit in most cases. There are a couple places nearby that have Christmas Tree plantation cutting operations. Lots of fun for the young 'uns.

Well, you can't drive five miles around here without passing a U-cut christmas tree farm, so we'd be darned peculiar if we got an artificial tree ;~D We get Noble firs here for stronger branches, some of the other kinds have wimpier branches.

But we aren't gonna put up a tree here at all, since we'll be at the beach house Christmas day anyhow, so I just put lights on our big house plants to add some cheer.

Okay, the tree is up with the lights on it. No ornaments yet. Actually I kinda like the look, but I wouldn't get away with it, because...we have to have this ornament...and we have to have this ornament...

I'm tryin' something new tho this year. Not putting on the garland/beads. Maybe the tree won't look so overdressed.

Also got the mantle done. Sort of by accident we started a Santa collection a few years back. This year I spread it on over to the cabinet the TV is on.

But this year we also added our favorite. It's hard to describe...but...(when has that stopped me before).

For years (literally 20 or so) this gentleman at our church played the lead in our productions. He was always the Apostle Peter at Easter and Santa (and various other characters) at Christmas. A few years back, when we did our Richmond in the 40s show he was a police officer (if you followed the plot he was also an angel). I was actually his understudy for that show. He died a couple of years ago (he was only in his 50s).

Anyway this year I found the perfect Santa. It's a police officer Santa. But the amazing thing was, I saw it in the store and just stared at it. It was if they had used Bill as a model. It has a place of honor on the mantle.

Aw... Corin's got a sentimental side...

My mother has a caroller collection. We split them between the mantel and the bay window. She has one to represent each of us, plus extras.

Well, um... that's just one of our collections...

We started a Nutcracker collection for Jr. a number of years ago. We've got snowglobes for Luke. We add one each year and they'll go with them eventually (you know, after they put is in a home). They'll have to fight over the Santas.

It's more than a sentimental side. This man was an inspiration.

I think it's great.

Nutcrackers are cool. They always look like demonic beasts ready to eat someone's face.

Um, no. I always fall asleep during that movie anyway.

Hmm. Odd that two glasses of wine would make me so... light-headed.
