New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
D'oh!
Corin, I'm going to postpone posting a pic of my fully decorated tree out of deference for you. ;)
We're going to try to get the dining room painted this weekend. I need a trip to the big orange Depot to get some mounting screws to use with the ceiling medallion. Am also going to swing by the grocery store and get fixin's for Christmas yummies: Fudge and cookies.
We're doing another cookie exchange at work. *sigh* I don't know why I let myself get sucked into those things. The fudge is a family tradition that my Dad always took care of. Now that he's not with us anymore I've decided to continue the mission.
I've made no headway on Nanowrimo. < 10K *sigh* Maybe next year. In the interim I think I'm going to work on a recipe/memoir book of my Dad's recipes. He was quite the country cook and there's lots of stories to tell.
Mornin'
Sun's out here. But it's a chilly day. I'm just havin' muh coffee and waiting a bit before I start powering up the noise making equipment. Gotta re-clear the leaves once more afore the decorations go out. So I'll do that and then make Jr. get out and help me haul down from the ~attic~.
We're enjoying the fact that we have no rehearsals today, and I don't have on until 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.
Decided not to make the trip home.
"So I'll do that and then make Jr. get out and help me haul down from the ~attic~"
Be careful, man. Remember what happened last year!
~shudders~
Good morning!
No kidding, Corin! If you go to the attic, at least make sure someone has the camera!
~shudders~
Yep, turkey with ketchup is far more frightening than the ~attic~.
Fortunately the Christmas decorations are in the "safe" zone.
That will make a cherished gift to family. I did a compilation of some really old writings in our family a few years back and really glad I did.
Hi All!
Yep...made the flight yesterday morning with no problems. 2-hour layover in Nashville was kind of a bummer but I brought plenty of book along. 'Course by the time I got to Raleigh the car rental place was down to the tanks. The smallest thing I could find was a LeSabre.
Dinner preparations were well underway when I got there. Thanks to my nephew who prepped the coconut, we had coconut cake with the fresh stuff the way it was intended. Note: never fix sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie because Brother and Sister-in-Law will bring them. We did okay on that except that the Violin Sister invited a friend over for dinner and he brought a pumpkin pie. We were still down one pie from last year. :)
I didn't get to the computer yesterday. My uber-geek nephew brought his desktop from home and a laptop (I think. I'm not sure who the laptop belonged to) and he set up a network so he and his cousin and my brother could play some game all afternoon. The younger kids were on the TV with the Nintendo. Us wimmin folk were sittin' and chatting most of the time between dishwasher loads.
Hope everyone had a great Turkey Day!
Good morning! Glad you got there in time for dinner!
Good Morning OT. Glad you made the journey safe and sound. LeSabre - that's a tank alright. 'give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around' comes to mind.
Sounds like a great visit - food - friends - family. Did Mr. Darcy (?) get his fair share of the turkey?
Snow melting nicely here, it's in the 40's and sunny.
I don't think either of the cats got the human-grade turkey. They were too busy trying to dodge all the people. :)
'Course Mr. Darcy might have had Thanksgiving Dinner at the neighbors' house. Right now he is crunching peacefully on his dry food.
But ecurbh and I are going to BBQ the free turkey he got... so we'll have that.
Then he's gonna make some turkey soup.
Gidget is fine this morning.... want's me to get a bird. ;~D
Hehehe....what exotic ingredient is he going to use this year?
No turkey for Mr. Darcy? Dry food?
Miss Kitty needs to 'series' talk with Mr. Darcy regarding food at home versus at the neighbors.
Ours seem to be having a good time watching the birds at the feeders.
Gypsygirl has found the yew bushes where sparrows et al hang out. Loves to stick her head in the bush and watch the birds fly out.
I think Mr. Darcy likes eating out. :)
I think both cats were outside during dinner so they missed out.
I don't know! We've got no more steps, we're all settled!
