Or tickets to New Zealand? That sounds like fun...
Much better than a vacuum cleaner, now that I think about it. :-)
Be thankful, chica. Be very, very thankful.
And that's coming from someone whose life has been too weird to mention.
I just wish I'd handles some those moments in my life withe same humor that Corin has with his. I think I'm a bit too serious about stuff at times.
I've always heard "pleased as punch", which I think may be a reference to Punch-and-Judy shows, which are puppet shows popular in Europe. Or England. Or they were when the English children's books I was raised on were written.
Punch is very proud if you put enough rum in it! ;-D
Yer very kind Ruthy. Sometimes I think the humor is a gift from the Lord. It's his way of letting me get through all of this crap.
Some days are funnier than others. ;-)
Although personally, Scotland is still at the top of my list of places to see before I die. *sigh*
I'd like to sit by this stream and take a nap. No cars, no crowds, no screaming kids. A beautiful thing!
New Zealand ranks 2nd, Australia 3rd.
Truer words have never been spoken!
Yes, but was Punch REALLY pleased? Was Punch the one punching Judy? If that were the case, then we've got a whole domestic violence issue here...man, this could get complex.
Rum Punch? Yo-Ho! A Pirate's life for me!
(but in my heart, I'm really a Pirate who don't do anything...)
Someday I want to tour the world... the English-speaking world, at least. That's one reason I love the "Amazing Race" reality shows. They go to these amazing, fantastic places. This last episode was in Iceland! They were climbing around the world's largest glacier, searching among icebergs in a sky-blue lagoon, climbing up behind waterfalls... it was just something.
Not that there's anything ~wrong~ with that!
Um... I just looked it up. Rather gruesome little puppet-plays. Apparently Punch usually ends up killing most of the other characters in the show, all the while very pleased with himself. Several sources say it is indeed the source for that phrase.
I'm a pirate who doesn't do anything! I mean, I've never kissed a chipmunk... I don't look good in leggings... I've never been to Boston in the fall...
Someone here order a headache? I seem to have been given an extra one...
I've heard a lot of great things about that show. I'll prolly tune in on Monday and check it out.
Right now, I'm pretty hooked on Lost. I just love a mystery!
I didn't!
Get thee to thy medicine cabinet and take some elixir.
Ah! that would be mine. Send it on over. Sorry for the confusion.
I really like that place. That's a good place.
Not a problem. It's on it's way.
I just find with the sore throat, it's a bit much...
Isn't it?
Really just calls to you and says "Have a seat. Rest a bit. What's the hurry?"
And now a new one for the song..."And I've never killed a puppet..."
Why, yes, I am a pirate. :-)
One of the best songs ever:
A pirate looks at 40
Jimmy Buffett
Mother, mother ocean
I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you
Switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dreams, most of 'em dreams
Yes I am a pirate
Two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late
I've done a bit of smugglin'
And I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami
But I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last
And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin', got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends
I go for younger women
Lived with several awhile
Though I ran 'em away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while
Mother, mother ocean
After all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
