Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
The Once and Future King is a good one! And all the Narnia books...Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NiMH, some of my favorites!
Yes, she should read on her own, but it's so important (IMO FWIW) for someone to READ to her! I intend to read to my children till they move out of the house! Last night, even my husband came in and laid down with the boys and listened.
I don't know why I think so...but I just think it's a good idea. Plus, I have all those years of drama instruction...might as well put it to use. I love to paint a verbal picture and see my kids' eyes wide while listening. LOL I suppose I am a bit on the dramatic side.
LOL You are right (of course!)...and I am a lazy butt...I forgot about Once and Future King. I think I keep thinking of adult classics to read to her that will help challenge her vocabulary but she doesnt have to struggle on her own over the words. She loves the Narnia books, and had finally discovered Nancy Drew. I introduced her to the Betsy-Tacy-Tibb series a long time ago, but I know the Jedis will not care to hear about 19th century little girls. I told her she will have to read Little Women on her own though...I can never make it through Beth's death without sobbing uncontrollably.
The jedis have a love/hate relationship with the Hardy Boys. Every chapter ends with a cliffhanger and since I only read one chapter, it can be pretty frustrating for them. Especially Joshua, who's very emotional and cries when I shut the book! LOL But I'm hard hearted...I shut that book and kiss him goondnight!
Bedtime is 8:30pm...I read to them after they get into bed. Matthew then can read until 9:30pm on his own. He just finished reading "Mountain Pony and the Elkhorn Mystery". I've never heard of it, but I thought it looked good so I bought it for 25 cents at a used book fair!
(Snail)Mail ping! Hi Fedora!
I actually worked a bit on my writing today! woohoo! I am proud of myself...
ah the cleverness of me!
I was just looking at this Mountain Pony book...apparently it's an old library book from Newton County (where ever that is!) The first stamped due date on it is Dec. 23, 1960!
Hi, Alkhin! :-) Just sent a reply to your email.
Greetings, Hobbits!
We're all headed out for the Military Salute at the Golden Corral, so this is just a drive-by post.
After-Action Report when I get back! Chow!
So far the only opening I've found is for a place that wants a person with both PC support experience and knowledge of GIS software - and they say that anyone without all qualifications will not even be contacted, so I kinda think it's not even worth a shot.
No openings at the hospital, either.
I suppose I COULD just look for part time work, like at a grocery or something...but you make so little for those kinds of jobs that for the number of hours I'd be able to work, I dunno if it'd be worth it. I have little enough of a social life as it is...
I think she's serial.
Heh...that's why I haven't ground up my cayennes yet.
OK...caught up now. Time for dinner.
Mmm...dinner. I had leftovers.
Now drinking coffee (decaf - ack! But I'll regret it otherwise), listening to Ella, and staring at my story without really writing. Got a thousand words to get in yet.
I didn't get all my kitchen moved. After Saturday, I figured I'd give my back a rest...lots of sore muscles. Nothing pulled, strained, or sprained, though.
Moving is horrible.
One of the reasons I don't wanna budge.
450 words left now.
I'd forgotten how much I like this CD...
Good Evening there evellybody! Anybody home?? [sip]
[eyore]
[sigh] happy monday...
[/eyore]
whooboy... this gov'ners race here in WA is just too fargin' close. Now under 600 votes, but the wrong way. Lucky for the good guy, almost all the rest of the ballots are from friendly territory.
Yeah, here's hoping he can pull back ahead tomorrow.
I'm home.
It was definitely an Eyore day.
But I'm sending my NaNoWriMo character on a guilt trip in recompense. Makes me feel better.
Hullo!
When is the final cut-off date for counting votes?
